F.C. København have on Saturday officially presented 19-year-old Costa Rica international Kenay Myrie. The young right-back arrives on a permanent deal from Deportivo Saprissa and will wear the number 18 shirt.
What happened?
On 14 July 2026, F.C. København finalised the signing of Kenay Myrie. According to Bold, the club paid around six million Danish kroner for the young international. Myrie, who has five caps for Costa Rica, will replace the injured Rodrigo Huescas at right-back.
Why it matters for F.C. København
Sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen stated on the club’s website that Myrie is a player with huge potential. We have followed Kenay for a longer period and seen his offensive qualities — pace and power — plus a strong physical package. Despite being only 19, Smith-Nielsen highlighted his mature personality.
The club expects Myrie to become a key profile in the Superliga over time. There will, however, be an adjustment period in terms of style and culture in Copenhagen. We are really looking forward to helping Kenay settle in, the sporting director said.
What comes next?
Myrie must now adapt to F.C. København’s style and environment. The right-back slot has been under pressure since Rodrigo Huescas’ injury, and the club is also working to offload Yoram Zague early. His arrival therefore boosts the defensive and attacking options.
The young international will compete with existing profiles like Denis Vavro and Christian Børsting for the starting berth. With his pace and aggressive style, he could quickly become a key player for F.C. København in the upcoming season.
